About Us
The Holy Family Knanaya Catholic proposed mission, Scotland, was granted on 19th March 2016. The establishment of the Holy Family Knanaya Catholic Mission, Scotland, was on 10th November, 2019 at St Andrew’s Catholic Church, Livingston. Archbishop Mar Mathew Moolakkatt, Bishop of Kottayam Archdiocese and Mar Joseph Srampickal, Bishop of Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain, His Grace Leo Cushley, Archbishop of St. Andrews & Edinburgh inaugurated the Knanaya Mission and solemnly celebrated the Holy Mass for us. Fr. Jinse Kandakkatt was appointed as the first Mission Director. We started Holy Mass and Catechism classes on all Sundays at St Andrews Church, Livingston. There are 85 Knanaya families in Scotland and 15 newly arrived students. The majority of families live in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. There are seven Koodarayogams and there are over 50 students studying regular Sunday Catechism and our 22 committed Teachers are doing a great service for our young future generations. On every second Tuesday 12 hours of Rosary and every fourth Tuesday 12 hours of Bible reading are conducted regularly. Fr. Jose Thekkunilkkunnathil is the present Mission Director and Mr Shibu George, Mr Emmanuel Joseph are the Kaikkarans. Mr Raju Esthappan is the Accountant and Mr George Pathiyil is the Catechism Head Teacher.
