Christ the King Knanaya Catholic Mission
About Us
Christ the King Knanaya Catholic Mission is proposed only for the Knanaya Catholic People in Birmingham which covers Birmingham, Northfield, Erdington, Sutton Coldfield, Acocks Green, Yadley, Stechford, Redditch, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley and Telford in the Syro Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain in 2018. Since then Holy Mass was celebrated for the faithful every 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month and also on special occasions. Later on this proposed mission was erected as a mission by Bishop Mar Joseph Srampickal, the Bishop of Syro Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain and inaugurated by His Excellency Mar Mathew Moolakkattu, the Archbishop of Kottayam Archeparchy on 9 November 2019. Now there is mass in every Sundays of the month, except 5th Sundays. The Catechism for the children is also taking place with Mass on every 1st and 3rd Sundays. Moreover this mission is helpful for Knanaya People to keep up their Catholic faith and Knanaya traditions. This mission helps the families to bring up their children in faith and giving them the importance of Knanaya legacy. There are about 130 Knanaya families are under the area of this mission and about 40 students are studying catechism in this mission. Fr Shanju Kochuparambil is the first Priest in Charge and Mission Director of this mission since its proposal.
